Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has
been crowned the UEFA Champions
League player of the week.
The 25-year-old forward inspired the
Reds to a 3-0 victory over fellow
Premier League side, Manchester City in
the first leg of their UCL quarterfinal
clash at Anfield on Wednesday, April 4.
Sadio Mane and Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain also scored a goal each to
ensure the Merseyside team head to the
second leg of the encounter with a
three-goal lead.

Meanwhile, the former Roma star was
voted the best player in Europe after
scoring a goals and also provided an
assist in that fixture.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrobatic
goal, the Liverpool man was considered
the best performer in Europe after the
first round of the quarterfinal matches.
Salah polled 57%, while Real Madrid
superstar Cristiano Ronaldo got 35% of
the votes cast.
Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique also
had his share of the votes as he polled
4% and Bayern Munich’s James
Rodriguez got 5%.


With his goal against City, the Egyptian
has now scored 8 goals from 11 matches
for the Reds – the same number of goals
with Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder this
season. Just four goals behind top
scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo with 14 goals
this season.
The former Chelsea striker returned to
the Premier League last summer and he
has been fantastic for Liverpool –
scoring 29 Premier League goals from
31 round of matches this term.
His goal tally in the ongoing league
season stands at 38 goals in all
competitions, and he stands a chance to
increase it if he avoids injury before the
end of this term.
